Client: Google
Together with Google we created an online edition of Leo Tolstoy’s masterpiece “Anna Karenina” using Google’s Hangouts technology. It was an extraordinary event, 36-hour online marathon with more than 700 participants reading the novel in different venues all over the world: the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, Peterhof in St. Petersburg, the Google offices in London, Dublin, Tokyo and Los Angeles, Pushkin House in Seoul, the Russian Center of Culture in Paris.
The event was broadcast via YouTube and watched in more than 106 countries. It has unified the most disparate people: from the Russian President’s Press Secretary to famous bloggers, from TV celebrities to everyday workers. The project received numerous awards, including Guinness World Records for “the biggest audience for an online reading marathon”.
